What is LED light therapy?
LED (light-emitting diode) light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that enters the skin’s layers to improve the skin. It works by stimulating skin cells with two the most beneficial wavelengths: Red Light (630nm) and Blue Light (450nm) which both improve microvascular circulation.
Dermatologists commonly use LED light therapy to treat a range of skin issues. Skin specialists often use LED light therapy together with other treatments, in combination of creams, ointments peptides, to give you the best results.
The technology was first developed by NASA to grow plants in space, before the agency turned it on astronauts and found LED light therapy also promoted human tissue growth and wound-healing activity.
LED treatments are an effective complement to laser treatments, chemical exfoliations, and Microneedling. They help aid the recovery process by killing bacteria, reducing inflammation, and promoting the healing process.
What happens during an LED light treatment?
A stand-alone treatment usually takes approximately 30 minutes, and 15 minutes as an add on. Your therapist will cleanse and exfoliate and apply highly concentrated peptides/serum on your skin to prepare it for light exposure. Then your eyes are light-protected, and you are exposed to LED light by freestanding lamp. The diodes may pulse and flash during the treatment but in fact it is pleasant and relaxing.
Are there different kinds of LED light therapy?
LED Light Therapy uses various wavelengths that shows up as different colours. Each colour penetrates skin at different depths.
BLUE LIGHT trigger photochemical oxidation to kill bacteria on a skin, which is excellent for people with acne and rosacea.
RED LIGHT stimulates fibroblasts for cell renewal & regeneration which helps with rejuvenation.
YELLOW LIGHT reduce inflammation and redness in a skin, but also helps with wound healing and reduce pigmentation. Can be used to treat sun burn.
GREEN LIGHT creates calming effect on a skin with anti-inflammatory properties. Lightens hyperpigmentation.
What are the benefits of LED?
LED Light Therapy can be used to reduce breakouts, rosacea symptoms, psoriasis and other inflammatory symptoms. LED can be used to for anti-aging effects and general skin rejuvenation.
How LED Light help in conjunction with other treatments?
SKIN LASERS – helps to reduce erythema, redness & heat bumps.
CHEMICAL PEELS – reduces redness in the skin and helps to accelerate the skin’s natural repair process
MICRONEEDLING – helps to reduce erythema and helps to accelerate the repair process. It also boosts collagen production for anti-aging and rejuvenation effects.
